What is Root Beer HQ?

     Root Beer HQ was founded on March 1st, 2025 by root beer enthusiast, Alex Pritchett.

     According to Root Beer World, there are over 3,100 distinct brands of root beer around the world. While companies like Untappd and Sodafry exist, root beer seems to ride the line between the two, with neither claiming it as their own. Meanwhile, if you find yourself on r/RootBeer, you will find that most fans share their frustrations with this, primarily using methods such as Excel/Sheets or their phone's notes app to rate the various brands they've tried in their life. These methods are inefficient, and fail to promote conversation to the fullest extent.

 

     This is where Root Beer HQ comes in. ​In the summer of 2024, I began to sketch ideas for an app. My goal was to create a single space where those who love root beer can locate, log, rate, and discuss various brands of root beer, primarily across the United States. In February, 2025, I began work on the humble beginnings of a website. In April, 2025, I announced my participation in the Builders & Backers Spring 2025 Cohort, where I will be learning more about what it takes to make a startup happen and taking Root Beer HQ to the next level.​​​
